Starlink Satellites?

This morning I walked out to pick up the newspaper at about 5:30. There was a good size hole in the clouds and the stars were bright. As I gazed at Ursa Major I noticed a fairly bright “star” to the northwest moving eastward.  Then in trail about 5 seconds apart there were 5 more. I suspected they were military as they were heading towards Whidbey Naval Airstation but lights didn’t flash and was just one steady bright white light.  I was considering making a report to MUFON  but googled instead and am now sure it was a string of Elon Musks Skylink satellites. Very impressive sight.

I remember how impressive it was first seeing mountains topped with hundreds of wind turbines.. Now we know about the environmental and health impacts caused by them. I'm not so sure this is going to be a good thing in the end.

I saw these on out trip to NZ last month. Nearly a dozen satellites all in a string of pearls across the sky. Very cool!

FWIW, astronomers and many other people who are trying to make space productive (comm, sensing, etc.) hate these things.   They're mostly in the way.

Musk says he’s working on a way so as not to cause their  interference.  If anyone can, Elon Musk and associates will find a way!
