As a new Mooney owner with no experience with MooneyMAX can you explain what this is and why it is good to attend?

Thanks for asking and welcome to the Mooney Family.

MooneyMAX is an annual gathering of Mooney owners from around the country. Don Maxwell Aviation is the largest Mooney Service Center in the United States,  The event has something for every Mooney owner including Right Seat Ready! a companion safety seminar for non-pilots.  The event is a great way to meet other Mooney owners, learn about maintenance, attend safety seminars, and perhaps even participate in the MooneyZoom speed trials.

59A...

Briefly,

The speakers are cream of the crop Mooney pilots, service, and engineering type people...

That include...

1) Mike Busch... all things related to our engine operations...  engine monitors and SAVVY go together...

2) Bob Kromer... test pilot and engineer for our planes... Bob wrote the test articles that were printed in the MAPA magazine... for me to know a Mooney M20C was the right bird for me....

3) The Maxwell family are the go to people for all questions related to Mooney Maintenance...  My PPI was done by DMax...

4) Jimmy Garrison... the go to person for insight on buying and selling a Mooney... I learned a lot about Mooney M20Cs from Jimmy’s group before buying one... they helped me get up to speed on realities involved with GA flying... a decade later I was back to buy the M20R.

5) Jolie and Jan Maxwell... help bring right seaters up to speed with the realities of flying... how to handle that one odd emergency... I didn’t see Jan’s resumé posted... but that one is a really good and amazing one... great for Mooney Girls too...

The other fine people I know of, but not first hand...

Hope that helps...

Best regards,

I’m stuck closer to home for a while...

The list of guest speakers is awesome... if you haven’t had the opportunity...

I simply own a Mooney because Bob Kromer, an engineer, made it understandably possible...

I started with an M20C shortly after Bob wrote a review in the MAPA magazine... timing was perfect!

Then went on to own an M20R sold by AAA‘s Jimmy and David...

Had a PPI/annual done by DMax...

A great team of people to work with...  :)

Sad notice to have to send:

Due to ongoing concerns regarding the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and after discussions with attendees and exhibitors the decision has been made to cancel the MooneyMAX Conference this year.  The health and wellbeing of the Mooney community is our main concern and all are in our prayers.

Don Maxwell Aviation Service Center, however, will continue to be open for all services during this trying time.  As always, we will strive to accommodate all owners with their Mooney maintenance needs.  Give us a call for any assistance.

Let's all hope this virus thing will be behind us all before Air Venture 2020.  See everyone at Oshkosh!

From this Mooney family to our beloved Mooney community, stay safe and well.1114662987_mooneymaxlogowhitesmall.thumb.jpg.f4f2f8e52bfcf7b924eed278d7c7d02e.jpg

Let's just hope all this will pass in time for West Coast Mooney trip.

Looks like we will be flying the Missile to Sun River.

  • 2 weeks later...

It is too bad that got cancelled, I am from Longview, Texas, learned to fly at Gregg Country Regional (KGGG) and just bought my first Mooney.  I currently live in Brazil but my folks are still in Longview and I would have loved to make it!  I hope that it will be rescheduled next year in the same spot, and I'll definately be there, assuming the zombie apocolypse that they are making COVID-19 out to be has been brought under control by then.

I have been lurking the forums for a few weeks but this is the first time I saw something that made me post.

I bought a mooney here in Brazil after looking at several in the States, I was going to bring it down here anyway to help with my business which has me travelling all over Brazil with spotty commercial services as my business is rural based.  For those interested, I ended up buying a 2007 Mooney Acclaim M20TN (it's serial number 15, it is not the subsequent S model but has the GFC700 AP in it)... it is registered as PT-ALN and there are pictures of it on this forum from when it was painted here.  It was much cheaper to buy the Mooney here than buy in the States and bring it down and re-register...

Look forward to seeing this event again next year!
