Amazing amount of adverse weather with no front nearby

Recommended Posts

As you can see in this prog chart, there's a significant weather event unfolding in the central and southern Plains in the overnight hours with not a single cold or warm front nearby.  Pilots are often taught to focus on frontal systems as the key weather makers, when in fact, it's a lot more complex than that.

A giant H seems to be controlling the weather on the East end...

Looking forward to the back side, where the warm air is brought North...

looks like a day or three of some nice weather to go with that...

PP guessing at the weather based on Scott’s chart above...

:)

It's the dreaded trough over New Mexico.   It seems to like to toss lots of weather into Texas.   Learned about it about 5 years ago when we were trying to get to Oklahoma and back to pick up the Mooney.

There is also a low pressure system in south texas that is gonna draw in a bunch of moisture and run it over to the east coast.

The big H moved out...

we had nice clear days and warm weather brought up from Alabama... (wed-fri)

Rainy weather moved in behind it... (Sat)

Central NJ has been under flood warnings for much of the day... (the ground is saturated so flooding will be easier)

Thanks Scott, for the continued weather support on MS! :)

Best regards,
