Garmin, uAvionix settle ADS-B patent lawsuit

I'm always curious how stuff like this went down.   Did the acquisition of Aerovonix bring with it some patents that were threatening to Garmin, so they reached detente?   Did the uAvionix financial backers spread some influence into the equation?   There are all sorts of intriguing possibilities.

Usually the reality is a bit more boring, but the speculation is fun.  ;)

Sounds like a victory for uAvionix to me.

I couldnt see this going any other way once the uAvionix patent was granted while the lawsuit was underway.

Plus any patents they acquired with Aerovonix, so there was probably a good basis to just settle everything with a cross-licensing agreement.

Yep some sort of cross licensing and In Garmin’s best interest to keep a competitor or two so as to not appear monopolistic
