Gloves compartment instead of ADF

Apparently I realized my Mooney had more space than I thought I pulled out old ADF (I prefer music from my phone) and now I think of what needs to be done to turn that hole into a gloves compartment... Should I recalculate weight and balance? Remove tray or just make some insert? Anyone did a similar “upgrade”?

I found myself in a similar situation when we removed an old narco radio. We built this box to slide in. It's not as pretty as I would like, but it's very functional.

Actually looks very nice. Did you remove radio tray and harness?

Yes, we removed the old tray and made this out of riveted aluminum panels. It's quite deep.  When painting the face plate, we didn't wait long enough between coats and the paint reacted and cracked a bit. Just need to take it out, sand, and repaint and I'll be happy

That sure would be awesome... If they sold them instead of referring you to local dealers who have never heard of them.  Oh, and half an AMU for a box seems a little steep

Did you find a price list somewhere or just call them?

What the heck good is one of those?  Isn't whatever is in it going to just roll or fall out when the deck angle increases on rotation?

There's a small stepdown inside and it holds a cell phone nicely without it falling out.
