Didn't you know "I am personally unfamiliar with this standard navaid indicator" is the definition of "obscure"?   But I'm pretty sure he meant the FAA enroute chart where it's just the standard box.

Obscured... is the VOR symbol hiding in the airport’s magenta like circle...

Once the colocated Vor symbol is seen... remembering the DME graphic is almost easy-ish...

Ahh except for the AOpa map I’ve never used jeppessen charts.  Thanks that was bugging me.
