Anybody have rudder pedal extensions? I got to thinking about us vertically-challenged folk, with pillows, cushions, and so forth, just to be able to reach the pedals and see over the glarescreen....then looked up rudder extensions, and found they come in 1.5 and 3 inches. Got a couple of 2x4 scraps and cut blocks, went out to the airport with them to try 'em on for size. Turns out, 1.5 would be good, but 3.0 would be even better, I think. (Airport Expert saw me with the blocks, the rubber bands, and proceeded to scold me, sternly admonishing me as to their utter unsuitability for the obvious task intended. I told him solemnly that I would surely wait until I had my STC paperwork in hand...Wink.)

Are they ever available used?

Thanks.

They are not that difficult to fabricate. I made two of the links for a friend because his belly would not let him reach comfortably the upper part of the pedals (brakes). I made them from an aluminum bar that I had on hand. It took me about 45 minutes.

Amelia--

I looked for some used 3" ruddel-pedal extensions but could not find any. Bought them new from Mooney instead and had my A&P install them during the pre-buy/annual.

They make the difference between a problematic seating position and a comfortable one. While I could fly without them, having used them, I wouldn't want to. They make braking easier and you can always move the seat back to stretch your legs.

Seems to me they were like $295 (maybe more) but I can't remember exactly.

I'd consider selling mine to you at a discount depending on how much labor is involved in swapping them.  My back left seat passenger could use a little more legroom...the fire extinguisher is already installed in front of/under the seat!

The only thing I like about them is if I ever get a shorter student...

Hi- just returned after a spell away from things electronic, and still in the market for rudder pedal extensions.

Tell me more, Parker? Are they the regular Mooney ones? What size? (I gather the 3" ones are considerably more involved, installation-wise.) Have you encountered odd flying characteristics with them, or are you just blessed with tallness?

How much do you want for them?

Thanks so much, all y'all, for the thoughts.

Parker, do you still have rudder pedal extensions you're looking to sell? What size are they, and how much do you want for them?

Thanks!
