Game Changer from Garmin Today!!

Recommended Posts

It does indeed appear to be a game changer.

I was afraid of this.  I got my planes ADS-B equipped, one of them a week ago and the other a year ago.  I was afraid that something better would come along and it did.  Haste makes waste.

This is surprising.

Indeed- the price is about half of what I was expecting.  Definitely taking a swing at Aspen-Touch screen, better looking display, bigger area... and cheaper.

unless aspen reprices their “Max” displays, they are about to lose a ton of business.

Looks like Garmin is finally “getting it.”

I was just talking with my aspen guy about to pull a trigger. He's on spring break this week so I waited. Apparently that was a blessing!

Likely confirms what I saw on a beech post earlier today that aspen was going to drop their new Max pricing at Sun and fun.

I think Aspen will have to, now that these are available....

This does not bode well for them....and I'm a huge aspen fan.

How salty will everyone who already paid for the upgrade be? Bad situation for them and Aspen

This is actually spectacular. i just remembered that the g3x can have a remote Nav/Com.
G3X, GTN750, GNX375 for a transponder, A remote #2 nav/com, and a GFC500, and a G5
as a backup. that is a nice panel right there.

No remote com (at least this week). But it will control the 225/255 not sure abou the SL30/40.

There really seems like there is going to be a consolidation event with Aspen and Avidyne(my guess at least). Aspen has the displays, Avidyne the only other real WAAS GPS for GA. Avidyne sort of has an autopilot, but I'd guess Trio or TruTrak would fill that component.

This doesn't bode well for Dynon and BK either. The 7in G3X costs the same as the Kl300 with the AP adapter, but replaces all the instruments, and can run the King AP's/

No, just direct them when you keep the ki256 going.

That's the only thing I'm sad about is that the rumored KI256 integration/replacement by Garmin doesn't seem to have appeared for the G3x touch/G5.

With the lower prices of the g3x I think many people are going to dig really deep and put in the gfc500. They’re going to sell a ton of those AP’s...

Yea, my budget got eaten by the overhaul monster, so I was hoping to do stuff more incrementally. Although maybe I can get a good deal on a used G5 HSI to start it off(as an eventual G3x backup)
