New ASI video - electric power loss

I thought this new ASI pilot story video might deserve its own thread - a fairly experienced guy who lost the entire electrical system in his Cardinal on an approach with low ceilings at nightfall, with no interval of power from the ship's battery.  This is my nightmare -  aged electrical components on my vintage Mooney do not inspire confidence.

The guy climbed back out to VMC and made it to better weather to land. He  would not have made it without the  basic GPS function on his phone plus  text messages from ATC helping him find the better weather,  plus their help getting  runway lights turned on. I bet he now carries a portable radio and an Ipad with Stratus or similar ads-b in source that is separate from the panel.

This is a scenario the iPad naysayers should pay attention to.  If you have a complete electrical failure at night, in IMC, shooting an approach with the synthetic vision on your iPad could save your life.

Ive practiced this with a CFII.  It works. We landed on the 1000 footers, on centerline, without me ever looking outside the cockpit. And I won't hesitate to use it if it's my last option.
