What does this Switch do?

Recommended Posts

That fancy switch is unfortunately un-original...

Even though it looks like a fancy weld job to the airframe...

Chase its wires before throwing the switch...

otherwise process of elimination is your friend... :)

Got a list of all the things your plane has?

Best regards,

In my Mooney a similar switch was for the strobes...

1. Turn lights out in hangar.

2. Turn on master.

3. Flip unknown switch and see if a light comes on.

4. If no light, listen for noise.

Thanks for all the great and "Informative" replies. I was finally able to get a hold of the previous owner and the switch is Non Functional that either the first owner had put in or the factory did!!!

Thanks again for all the replies.

I believe it is for foot well illumination to assist in selecting fuel tanks at night....

Even if it isn’t, I like that idea for fuel selection, and flap/ trim indicator.

I have a footwell light... did any come from the factory with one?  what switch is it normally connected to? Mine isn’t working at present...

Everyone with a fuel selector on the floor should have a footwell light....

I found a dead bulb in my 65C’s... when I happened upon the light...

It is there to continuously light the fuel selector switch...

A hidden switch for the hidden bulb wouldn’t make much sense...

By the way... everyone should have a document in their POH that shows an electrical drawing that has all the switches, CBs, and what they are connected to....

Any additions are easy to document there as well....

PP thoughts only...

Mine has one. It’s factory. It just adds a small amount of diffused light to the footwell.
