They're just adjusted as-needed to get a good fit when retracted...somewhere between no gaps and excessive deflection of the doors that can lead to cracks. Don't forget to add anti-chafe tape to the wing interface as well.

The actual work involves using washers as spacers to get the door into the right place. Every plane is different, and mine was even slightly different from one side to the other.
