hmasing
UPDATE: This is, in fact, a K&N Filter. I spoke to them today, and they said it is a special product made exclusively for Challenger Aviation, and they cannot sell it directly. They gave me the number of (937) 387-6500 to contact them about purchasing a filter directly, with the same part number - SP-2979. Hopefully this helps others in the future, I'll update if I am able to purchase directly from Challenger. Otherwise, looks like I'm in for $250 for a whole replacement. This one was neglected by the prior owner and not cleaned or oiled, and now is basically letting unfiltered air straight through. ------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the air filter on my '68 M20F. It appears to be this:https://www.knots2u.net/challenger-air-filter-high-performance-cp-1176/ I am looking JUST for a replacement filter, The bracket and gasket are fine. The part number for the filter is SP-2979, stamped on the side. It is a K&N Filter:https://www.knfilters.com/search/search.aspx?src=SP-2979 ...which does not appear to be made anymore. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get a replacement filter for this? Thanks! Edited March 2, 2019 by hmasing

Shadrach
The Bracketts are easily obtained through any of the major aircraft supply companies. You may need both assembly and element.
67 m20F chump
Isn’t that the filter made by challenger? You clean it and put a red oil on it every year. CP1176 filter. Edited March 2, 2019 by 67 m20F chump

CP1176 filter. K&N supplies the filter for Challenger, it is probably the K&N filter for a Dodge Omni or something.

Culver LFA
Just now, neilpilot said: Understand that's for the complete housing, gasket and filter. I would call spruce and ask them if they sell just the filter, and if they don't sell it separately ask them to pull the kit and tell me the part # of the filter is. If they won't do it over the phone I can do it on one of my semi-daily trips there.

Good call, I'll do that next week. Thanks!

Guest
10 hours ago, Gary0747 said: Any PIREPS on if these filters actually increase MP? They do because they have less filter media, when compared to other filters and let even more air through when they aren’t serviced properly. Sabremech
I have a brand new BA6310 filter assembly that I don’t need. I’ll sell it for $50 plus shipping. David
