Value of this Mooney?

I actually have a specific plane in mind (didn't want to post it here at this time) so I have provided a general description of the plane.

I thought the same thing when I bought mine.  In hindsight, I really wish I would have posted a link to the plane to get specific advice on things that would add or detract from the value, things to inspect for, things to upgrade, etc.

This is a group of Mooney owners.  We already have our planes and aren't interested in scooping this one up before you can buy it.

The challenge with that logic...

People looking to buy a plane are visiting here... frequently...

Tough choices...

  • Expose what you have to get people’s input...
  • Don’t expose what you have to keep your options secret...

It is really hard to be a first time buyer...

This is  a public forum. A web search on any Mooney related subject is likely to result in multiple MS hits.

DingyHarry I keep my 20C up at Shannon Airport in Fredericksburg, VA, but I am planning to work in Raleigh for the next 18 months and will be keep my plane at Triangle North Executive KLHZ.  You may already be aware that hanger space in the Raleigh area is hard to come buy.  My take on the value is $90 to $110K depending on condition and maintenance records.  Do you need transition training or are you a Mooney pilot already?  Good luck!

Very cool. Maybe we could meet. I will need training. I need my complex endorsement and need time in the Mooney for my own comfort and for insurance purposes.

Well the agreement has officially been signed, deposit has been paid, and the plane should be mine pending the results of an annual inspection.

Pre-buy is a much more reasonable approach for considering a purchase than an annual inspection. Look at the big things first (airframe corrosion, fuel tanks, compressions, autopilot, avionics, etc.) If there's a deal breaker you stop the inspection, close it up and your costs are less. After you check over the big things and they are ok, if you want you can turn it into an annual, but if the annual is not due it's nice to have the annual done closer to home.

Others have probably told you this, but don't get emotionally attached to the airplane until you've had a qualified Mooney specialist do a good pre-buy. Remember it's not your airplane until you close on it. There are no deals too good to pass up.

I had been back and forth with the owner on this plane. You were able to get there before me. I'm in Southern California. I think this is a great plane. Awesome panel.  Congrats to you. Would be interested to hear from you down the road about how you like it.

Andy

Will do. Do you mind me asking what price you were looking to get and why you didn't get the deal done?
