Remote Compass Flux Valve Location

Recommended Posts

New Member here and this is my first time using so here goes.

When installing a remote compass for the HSI in a pre J model Mooney where do installers usually mount the flux valve (Magnetic Azimuth Transmitter) Honeywell KMT 112?

Thanks

I have a King HSI.  Flux dome as you described is in the tail, maybe 2’ aft of my battery.  Right next to my AP pitch servo.  Perfect location.

Roll servo is in my left wing.  I hear right wing is a good place for one if your strobes are well grounded.

Welcome aboard, Chub.

Your question came up the other day as well.

Complex questions can often take a week to get complete answers...

The search function can cut a week out of your wait...:)

In modern Mooneys with BK HSI... the electronic compass device is in the copilot wing about half way out...

If you want to see where it is in other Mooneys... the access panel will have brass colored rivets holding the panel in place...

Best regards,

I asked the shop that did my install recently and this was their response:

"Normally in an area away from electromagnetic interference, autopilot servos, antennas, speakers, power cables, flap motors, strobes, rotating beacons, so leaving outer sections of wings or tail as best choices."

Thanks to all that replied.  Great information.

Jet Drive = I am installing the same thing.   A Sandel 3308

Greg Ellis = I am at Hicks Airport.   Just move over from GPM last week.   My Cessna 120 is also there at Hicks.
