Garmin G5 horizon...

Why isn't there a "G6" (or maybe a G5b) that is the same thing but with better software that shows SVT instead of a boring colored background.  My phone can do it so why can't a specialized piece of equipment like this?

You mean like the L3 ESI-500?

AHRS measure the change and acceleration of the unit to calculate the three axis position relative to the "null" or static position. This is set during the calibration process at installation. The AHRS unit is mounted during installation within a few degrees of level. Some have software adjustments to shift the display a few degrees so the unit will show straight and level flight on the indicator.

Set at installation.
The avionics guy came for a test flight to confirm he had guessed correctly he had G5 and Txi showed level flight at cruise

Yes.  It is exactly what I mean.  But Garmin should be able to do that at the G5+ price point plus be able to drive the GFC500.

There's enough stuff on the screen. If they had terrain on there too, I feel like it would be way too cluttered

Too bad that's not certified primary. What's the cost?

The L-3 ESI-500 is a sweet package. The resolution of the display is unbelievable. I didn’t activate the SVT because I fly mainly on the east coast and I already have it on the Aspen.

I did turn on the Nav enablement. The unit could easily replace your entire original six pack and you would be happy flying behind it. It is pricey though. Around 6 AMU with another 0.9 AMU to turn on the Nav enablement.

Sounds like the Lynx 9000. Pricey, but at least there is a lot of bang for the buck.

I was hoping they would drop the price slightly with competition from the g5 and Max coming up. However, L3 increased it by another $400 ish this year. I still would really like a esi500 to go with my single aspen. It would be a very clean install.
