It's been a while since I've flown missions down to Baja for Mother load chapter of Flying Samaritans.Last month ,a group flew down to SAN Quintin ,Baja Mexico Sur.Flights consisted of all volunteers,Dentists,Nurse Practioners ,pilots doubling as equipment repair specialists,MDs ,specialists etc. Here is their report....patients are treated free of charge in a 15 x30 cinder block Ranch structure ,dispensing eye glasses, basic medical and dental services to underserved areas of Baja California.

@thinwing, considering I'm based at KSEE--El Cajon, CA--please let me know if I can be of assistance in the future. I may not be able to fly into Mexico due to my current circumstance--insurance--but given my proximity to the border, IĀ can offer with staging at least or something. If not... good on you and others that are making a difference to those in need.Ā

Iā€™ve helped on missions like this a fewĀ times. Not sure what the difference is but unfortunately I enjoy helping others in areas like this more thanĀ volunteering in the US. Ā Something moving about seeing those in need walk 5-10 miles in the middle of the night getting in line early to receive medical attention. Ā I just want to keep working, 24 hrs a day,Ā to help everyone. Ā

Hi there, the Palomar(bonsail)chapter supports 6 clinics, all of which can be reached by car...(me,I'd rather fly!!)who is your Insurence agent....Mexican insurance can be obtained thru Baja bush pilots and The Flying Samaritans can file eapis for free plus have good repore with cbp.

If anyone is interested in doing these trips, I've been on the Board of Directors of the Tucson chapter of the Flying Samaritans for many years and average 4-6 trips per year. We depart Friday morning, wheels up at 0700 and are back in Tucson around 1PM on Sunday. The Tucson (and Sacramento) group goes the second weekend of the month, Phoenix goes (to a different clinic) the third weekend of the month. Tucson and Sacramento land at the same private airstrip and stay at the same hotel so that's kinda neat. We have different clinics. Sacramento's clinic is right at the airport in San Quintin where the Tucson clinic is in El Rosario, about a 30Ā minute drive south along the west coast of the Baja.

I have friends that routinely fly into Tucson commercially (they aren't pilots) on Thursday night and come with us forĀ clinic. They depart Tucson commercially for home Sunday afternoon. One guy comes at least once a year from Orlando (he's coming in January) and I've had friends come with us from Los Angeles, San Antonio, NYC, Idaho, etc.

I'm with Global... The plane is also bank owned at the moment and there is an exclusion on taking it out of the country, so I have multiple hoops to jump through.

Is there any way for non-doctors to help?
