Over torqued drain

Fuel drains are easy to rip their little heads clean off...

Specially when the only tool you have that fits the drain is attached to a 1/2” breaker bar...  it is a mismatch of size for the torque that is required...

My mechanic gave me pretty clear instructions to follow...

Should of have gave me a torque spec...

Its probably a few inch pounds...  there is probably a rubber seal that only needs to be compressed, not crushed...

My plan was to put it in by hand, firm it up with the tool, torque it tight by rotating it one facet of the hex bolt...

To my surprise, It snapped off in the firming up phase.

I went from happy to have a solution to my leaking drain, proud that my mechanic just gave me what I needed... To holy crap, now the leak just got much worse...  :)

there is nothing that could possibly make the drain vibrate out without noticing it months in advance... don’t over torque it...

The M20C days before MS...

Funny PP experiences collected over time... not a mechanic...

Thanks for the memories, Clarence... :)

Best regards,
