Mooney Mechanic Manchester N H

I attended a MAPA. clinic this weekend, My Bravo experienced backfiring on rollout, stopped takeoff, did good runup again, all seemed normal. On takeoff I heard what I thought was backfiring checked engine analyzer cyl no 1 egt was 1600 I was at 300 ft landed uneventful. The guys on the ground heard the backfiring and watched what was up. Being Saturday morning I couldn’t find any one to work or check it out. MHT being a bigger airport had no one I left some messages for maintenance there call a place at Nashua no luck. I suspect a partially clogged injector, valve, induction leak.

Egt elevated, thought we saw a elevated cht on no1 earlier in the day opened cowl flaps then later on takeoff this event.

New Hampshire Guys Im listening for advice at Manchester

Dan:

When I had engine probs in Manchester last time, it was only for the manifold pressure line, so not as serious as yours, but still had to take the plane to Concord to their local shop.  Took two hours to get it replaced.

In Manchester, there is an itinerant mechanic that comes in to Signature on request, but he was not available for me two years ago.

You may wish to ask Signature if their guy is still doing this or phone the shop in Concord to see if they know someone local.

It was nice meeting you and I hope you get going OK.  Personally, I had a great flight into demanding conditions when I flew out of Manchester, and I did not make it to my desired destination because of minima there.  But I made it to the flight planned destination.  I had to leave the plane in Allentown, PA, but I know it is OK.

Hope yours gets to be OK soon.  Good luck.

Thanks Ned, I found a mechanic on the NE end of MHT, they will retrieve the plane this morning and start. Having just worked on emergency procedures the hour before is enlightening. Now I need to get back to Manchester, anyone up for takeing me back from Wilmington De

Sorry I can’t help. Try Chris D. He might be game for a post annual trip. Need his contact info?

Dan,

It was good to meet you and I'm glad you connected with the on-field mechanic and got it fixed quickly.   Sorry I can't help with the travel back here; Wx is forecast to be well beyond my limits for the next week.    (even in perfect weather the trip itself is still beyond my current capabilities)

Dave
