flyboy0681
The original Hoskins strobe on the right wing flashes once for every six flashes of the left strobe. The ratio is always 1:6. What are the possible causes?
flyboy0681
Everything is original, including the Hoskins power supply.

Is the yellow wire connecting them? On my J at least Mooney left the yellow sync wire disconnected. I haven't physically inspected it, just saying that they weren't replaced with a newer product. Next time I'm in the hangar I'll check it out.
Andy95W
It sounds like the capacitors in the power supply are starting to degrade. Maybe try swapping power supplies left to right and see if the fault follows.
bradp
Andy's right - it's the capacitors starting to go. Your options are to research the capacitor and get out your soldering.iron, replace with another power supply (I have a working whelen from ~2012 mfr that I can sell you if you need one - there are a couple of people on the forum that have working replacements - I'd caution looking for a used one on Ebay as most of them are probably junk), or bite the bullet and replace with an LED strobe. Hope this helps, Brad
flyboy0681
A replacement set seems to be in my future. What's another 1 AMU.

kortopates
Best excuse you'll get to replace with Whelen Orion's!

Jerry 5TJ
I just last week pulled out the original Whelen strobe/ incandescent assemblies and put in the Orion 600 LED wing tip light replacements. They do look sleek. Lower current, 3 pounds lighter. Yep, 1 AMU.
