Badmoonraising
Recently had a flight were it seemed I had to constantly chase the trim, usually up. It may have been the conditions but I did not some free play in my trim wheel. Do these require adjustment? If so how? I really don't know how these work. takair
Be sure that’s the yoke shaft panel feedthrough bearing is lubed such that your yoke moves freely in and out. I find that this makes a big difference, not just in trim, but also my landings.
N201MKTurbo
There is a trim brake screw below the trim wheel. You can tighten it, if it is installed. It is there to stop the trim from being back driven by the tail.
Yetti
I am sure you are gently lifting the tail on the walk around. There should only be 1/4 to 1/8 of play. Start with the simple stuff first.
Yetti
It took two annuals, but I got a "your trim is smoother than mine" from an A&P Mooney safety pilot. Cleaning and lubing each U joint. There are about 5-6 of them. Lubing the jackscrew in place. Cleaning and lubing the trimwheel chain. Done in place with a brush. 40 year old grease is just gunky stuff.
