Use the Mooney to go places it would be very expensive in airfare or time to get to otherwise. Our little summer trip before Oshkosh is... Austin to Lincoln, NE to Winnipeg Manitoba, to Churchill Manitoba to International Falls, MN to Iron Mountain, MI to Mackinac Island, MI (where we are now) to Asheville, NC to Savannah, GA then home to Austin. (NC and GA along with Manitoba Canada in the same trip doesn't make much sense ) But it's a Mooney and it doesn't seem so far. Then an oil change and off to Oshkosh. I can give you some other ideas as well. A tour of the National Parks in California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming. (Did that two summers ago). Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, (last summer). Great flight but hard to beat $200 tickets. man that is an awesome summer trip, haven't been to mackinac since I was a kid? is there an airport on the island ? Unfortunately another white and blue M20K 252 landed gear up on the 4th of July. McMooney Posted July 8, 2018 Author Report Share Posted July 8, 2018 well, I have to say I've been blessed, the guy who put the plane back together after it's last gear up, is absolutely exceptional. every mechanic I've taken the plane to comments on how absolutely clean it is. both annuals were no squawks. My last bit of avionics work has been delayed, an M20F geared itself up at the airport I was going to and my mechanic is knee deep in it. I think I'll keep putting the gear and flaps dow a few miles out. Slows things down, but all means I'm less likely to gear it up. G Gear down U Undercarriage should be down by now M Make damn good and certain the blasted gear is down! P Put your stupid hand on the gear switch and make bloody certain its down right now!
