I am not quite down to Wilmington full time yet.  I'm down in Wilmington about 12 days/month let me know if you want me to go look at it for your buddy. I'm not quite familiar with the GA culture down there / don't know anybody quite yet.

Yes, I know the plane.  It used to be based at SUT in the hangar next to me.  Previous to the current owner it was flown for business but when the owners business slowed down it mostly sat in the hangar for 4-5 years until it was sold.  I’m pretty sure that he sold it to someone in the military about 4 years ago.

The paint is faded and interior is pretty tired.  All original avionics.  From the pictures it looks about the same as I remember.  My IA did maintain the plane previous to the current owner.  Corners weren’t cut but the previous owner didn’t spend a penny more than he absolutely had to.  I remember him balking when my IA told him that he’d ground the plane if a new windscreen wasn’t installed.

I think you’ll be looking at paint, interior, side glass and current avionics to bring her back.  I don’t remember anything about the state of the motor.

I live about 35 miles from Wilmington. I’m up there at least once a week and could look it over for you if you want.

PM me if I can help.
