McMooney
Tomorrow i'm heading to VEGAS, my first time. Any tips? which airport is recommended? Any sites I shouldn't miss? not much of a gambler
carusoam
Vegas? Trust that the odds are written in the favor of the House... the more you play, the truer the statistics will play out... To win at the casinos, don’t play too long... it messes with their statistics... To keep from losing everything... stick to your limit... know when to stop. Knowing all this, makes you want to be the house... some are publicly traded companies. You can actually own shares of the house... If that is not what you meant... do a search on Henderson... an airport nearby that gets mentioned when other people have asked about Vegas airports... xcrmckenna
I fly into North Las Vegas. But a lot of people choose Henderson. For me it would depend on my direction of Flight. If you are on instrument or Flight following it will be easy. Blue man group, and the Jubilee are two shows I enjoy and go see the big god Dam..... MB65E
I like Atlantic LAS! They waive all fees to single engine pistons as of last fall. Just buy a little gas. Call to confirm. I used to like north vegas, but the cab rides stink and it’s kinda a sketchy area. The controllers don’t notmally give a bravo clearance unless you are landing LAS. -Matt

Seth
Go Capitals! The county is behind the Knights, however I’m a Caps fan! I am curious as to the advice given on Vegas. On my next cross the country flight I will stop in Sin City, but that’s probably a few years off. -Seth Edited May 29, 2018 by Seth

Vegas is a blast but if you really want to party go to New Orleans. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

kerry
There are VFR corridors to North Las Vegas on the TAC. Rocks 2 arrival from the south and The El Cortez from the East. If coming from the East you can ask Las Vegas approach for a strip tour. If they're not to busy they will route you to the Tropicana Hotel and let you fly along the Las Vegas Strip to the Stratosphere then direct to the North Las Vegas Airport. If you rent a car then I would recommend visiting the Hoover Dam. Walking across the bridge is very cool, especially on windy days. Bellagio fountains and garden are a must. Knights up 1-0. Go Golden Knights.

N201MKTurbo
Ride the roller coasters, see the shows, eat the food, walk the strip and watch other people lose their money. If you have money to burn, buy some more toys for your Mooney!
Trailboss
I spent some time in LVNV last April. Landed at both Henderson and North Las Vegas on separate trips. Henderson has the nicer FBO. VGT was (is?) being renovated and it's a long walk to the FBO from the transient parking area when the FBO doesn't send a van. Henderson is a much nicer part of the metro area as well. Both have $15/day ramp fees, first night free w/ fuel purchase. From the North, LAS approach gave me direct VGT from Overton. That put me right over Nellis and the speedway. +1 for Penn and Teller
JohnB
+1 on Atlantic at MCCarran. You don’t get remotely the amount of service at NLV or Henderson. 10 gals fuel waives ramp fees. This time I got really lucky on departure and got vectored right over the strip! Luckily my trusty co pilot was able to snap these as I navigated. Hmm can’t unrotate these but this was way cool.

JohnB
Speaking of winds, there can be some pretty strong winds in Vegas with gusts. Particularly important if you land at N Las Vegas or Henderson as there's only two directions you can land at those. If you choose one of these, make sure your crosswind skills are good! Another reason why I like McCarren, as their crossing runways almost always seem to have one of their runways aligned with even the strongest gusty winds with limited crosswinds. McMooney
I SURVIVED, seems no sleeping allowed in Vegas. Birdy performed wonderfully, lost the filter media in the air-filter. Anyone know the correct replacement media? can this be replaced with a more modern filter, I wonder how much dirt a piece of black foam can catch? Landed at Henderson, Really really nice people. 50$ taxi ride not so much. Drank and ate at the Skyfall lounge, man what an awesome spot, Perfect views of Vegas. Def have to go back, 2 days just wasn't enough time. Oh yeah, on the way back, noticed KROW was right along the flight path. YOu know I had to stop. unfortunately, no spaceships, aliens or x-files anywhere, bummer; there was a CLOSED UFO museum. Big-D's Downtown Dive, GREAT BURGER. I do recall you need to reserve a few hours in advance.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
