201 propeller

Recommended Posts

I've had my McCauley 214 IRANed twice in the last 350 hours by a shop in Redding, CA.  It's seeping grease again.  Does anyone have a prop shop recommendation for an IRAN in the southwest (I'm in San Diego)?

Thanks, Larry

Any other shop than those guys... they arent doing it right.  San Antonio Propeller will paint and IRAN for 650$. but you got to ship it.. which is a lot cheaper than a reseal which turns into an overhaul which turns into you need two new blades which turns into a 8700$ new prop.

I have had dealings with Johnson’s in the past, an have not had any issues.

However I don’t send props to them to repair, so I can’t Testify to that practice.

Also, keep in mind certain shops these days won’t IRAN a propeller if it’s not inside it’s recommended TBO.

You wanna get that question answered first.

As a follow-up:  Two months ago the grease seeping became worse.  I crated the prop up and shipped it to Cody Stallings for an IRAN.  Cody was great, keeping me advised by texts/pics.  The cost to ship wasn't bad via Fedex ground - well worth it for good service.

I had the exact same thing happen at that shop!  I have no proof that they did me wrong just a gut feeling.  Will be shipping my props to Cody in the future, even if I get bad news I know he is a straight shooter.
