ring thing around door handle

Recommended Posts

Mine is cracked and looks like crap.  was going to SEM paint it while doing the rest of my interior parts but I'm thinking it probably to far gone.  Has anybody done anything beside replacing it or leaving it off?  Some kind of leather or cloth gasket to cover the whole?

It should be fairly simple to turn a wooden form and make your own replacements with sheet plastic from the hobby shop. Drape over the form, heat it a few minutes in your oven then either vacuum form it or (wearing gloves) gently push it onto the wooden form.

You only need to make one, a small piece of plastic should let you make a couple of mistakes and still get a good one.

What piece are we talking about here? I just removed an excess plastic piece from under the handle. Is that what you are looking for?

I'd call it an escutcheon:

Mine is missing and not missed but if I wanted to replace it I would visit the hardware aisle of Lowes, Home Depot, or my local hardware store...
