There is a lot of speculation about what Garmin is going to announce today. Could it be a G3X Touch for certified piston aircraft? A G500 update akin to NXI for G1000? What do you think?

Hopefully something cool but affordable!

It sure smells like it will be something in this ballpark. Their Facebook teaser video definitely shows a glow in the pilot's face from the left side of the panel. A Mooney, Bonanza, Cessna and a Piper are featured as well.

I suspect it will be the G500 replacement, which might look like G3X out better. It might be very expensive too. And it might be first in a new family of products of varying capabilities and price points.

A new line of Garmin watches?  With titanium wrist bands?

Or maybe Garmin earings, nose rings and other piercing accessories with built in GPS, WiFii, ADS-B, and lots more acronyms?  All in rubber but titanium for an upcharge.

How "Steve Jobs'ish" of them.  Maybe it will be an iGarmin iNavigator with built in iSiri for an iMooney with an iAutopilot and .... a titanium wrist band upcharge for $200.

Is anybody actually even on the webinar?  I'm not getting anything but a screen saying they are waiting to start.

Actual start was about 4:10 central.  I left after deciding it would likely exceed the cost of my 65C

For some reason Safari didn't want to connect but I caught quite a bit with Chrome. It definitely looks cool if you're on a modular panel and have some money to spend. Doesn't affect those of us with G1000s...I know, crocodile tears!  But still, any innovation in this space is welcome.

And the new hardware integrates with - wait for it - the new GFC600 autopilot. No word on the 500 being integrated.

some over priced crap.

how's paint going?

Argh - its coming - it was on stop because of the construction argument between the airport, the state, and the construction company, that ended up literally parked and dusty tore up the tarmac etc in front of the paint company's hangar.  At least they were good not to paint through that.  They wrapped my plane in plastic for months and it was stuck.....half taken apart, stripped, undercoat painted, and then trapped in the world of dust and construction arguments.  So the paint is back underway!  :-O  This month....  Anyway a new special kind of product came out that is being added to the paint - top secret surprise....
