j3gq Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) Dear all, I am sure many of you know Kerry McIntire's really useful shoptalk articles (knr-inc.com). I consider them a great resource. In more than one of them (ex: engine OH basics) he reminds us that for some older Mooney engines (among them certainly the 231’s TCM TSIO-360-GB, may be the -LB too) it has gotten more and more difficult to find good quality spare parts for an engine overhaul. This can have only become worse since this was written, or not ? Those of you with related good or bad experience during the last 10y, would you please share your experience? Thanks! Jim F Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 Hi j3gq, I would just call an overhauler in your area and ask if they can get spare part for your engine at a reasonable price. I would be in the same boat when I overhaul early next year. Jim
kortopates Posted September 9, 2017 Report Posted September 9, 2017 I have never seen any problem getting TCM or Superior parts. I fly an MB converted SB and although there could be some parts unique to the GB harder to find, I am sure the LB being fully supported is no problem either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jclemens Posted September 9, 2017 Report Posted September 9, 2017 We have rebuilt several TSIO-360's in the last year, zero issues sourcing parts.
