It needed to be that big due to the speed to allow drawing the corners. The picture was download to the FMS and then coupled to the autopilot. Impressive navigation performance and endurance.

Try that Airbus.

How do you download a picture to an FMS?

You download the route waypoints through ACARS data link or other FMS direct link.

Someone has to make a flight plan with all the lat/long coordinates to define the shape, then that gets sent to sabre then uplinked from ACARS.

or you can do it the old fashioned way by hand programming the lat/long in the format N25343/W070143
