Propeller Care

Recommended Posts

Silicone paste (aka-DC4) I use on tail rotor blades to help with corrosion. Shines them up a bit. It's actually approved. It collects a slight amount of dust but wipes off really  nice then reapply if needed. Looks nice.

Some guys worry about WD-40 close prox to rubber in the Heli world.

Also, Meguires Back to Black on black Mac props looks nice too!

If you read the Hartzell manual, they actually recommend a light layer of standard engine oil on the blades to prevent corrosion. I do this when I get done flying. Do it thin or else it will splatter your windshield on the next flight.

Now that you mention that, I remember reading that a few years ago and tried it in 2014.

I now recall that it looked like it unevenly discolored it a bit. All those spots faded evenly.

I tried my wash wax today and it looked great.

I have a friend who overhauls props. I will ask him and post answers.
