nickmatic
I posted about a fuel smell in my cockpit a while back when I bought my M20K and just have been keeping the right tank below full up until now in order to not have to deal with it. It has worked but all of a sudden recently I can only fill the tank to about 18 gallons before getting wet carpet on the right side of the plane. Time to get this fixed. I did a lot of searching online and in this forum and I see Weep No More in Willmar, MN, WetWingOlogists East in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Propellorhead Aviation in Winter Haven, FL. Wondering if anyone knows a reputable shop a little further north on the east coast? The plane is in South Carolina at the moment and I'd like to stop somewhere on the way back to New York (where I live) to get the tank seal dealt with. I'm open to having it patched vs completely resealed if that's possible.

tls pilot
call Edison at Wet Wing in FXE
DonMuncy
Before you start worrying about patching, have someone check the gasket on the sender unit just behind the upholstery on the right side. It may be as easy as tightening 6 screws.

Hank
I flew down to FXE from Furthest West Virginny to have Edison strip and seal my tanks. Great service and good pricing, with MAPA discount, too. Â

I don't remember for certain, but I think you have 37 gallon tanks, and the sender units may be mounted just above the center of the tank. It may come out about right. carusoam
Wet carpet is a sign that comes with the aged cork or rubber seals for the Fuel Level indicator. take the interior panel off and look what's behind it... This is something you can do or get done.  No need to wait. Fuel in the cabin is my least favorite type of leak...  make it stop. helitim
Not that I'm suggesting you use a non approved part but, if you need seals, NAPA sells an exact replica of the seal for about $2.  Takes just a few minutes to install once the fuel is drained from the tank to below the sender level.
buddy
Check the inboard and outboard sending unit gaskets there are 2 in each wing. I tried patching my leaking tanks a couple of times when I owned my 201 and it never worked out so I ended up bring it to Edison, wet wing in FXE and he did a great job resealing both tanks. nickmatic
Thanks for all the comments regarding the fuel senders. Sounds like this is a serious possibility. I've asked them to take a look and I'll report back. Would be great if it's that easy!
Drumstick
Rusty at ICS services in Hummel County Field VA does tanks. Not sure what he will charge total for the job but his shop rate is $60/hr.
