thinwing Posted May 31, 2017 Report Share Posted May 31, 2017 I use the stormscope tactically and some times that's all I had...for instance ,IFR to Whitehorse ,IMC out of Radar,xm,coverage .Mark one could see the cells ahead of us and on course...we used the stormscope to detect lightening and therefore up/down drafts...ran into a little ice but otherwise smooth ride.Come to think of it ,if the stormscope had shown an impassable wall ,I'm not sure what I would have done since I am out of radar,radio range etc to ask center for a deviation.
