Oil filter light on go around on 76 M20F

Recommended Posts

Hello all!  New 1976 M20F owner with a question.  Got an oil filter light on go around during touch and go.  I curtailed flight and landed.  Near oil change time (43hours) so had it changed.   Curious of implications of the light and any info on lights function?  My mechanic didn't appear overly concerned, I want more data?

Be interested to see a picture of what this gizmo is. The chip detectors I have seen are usually magnets stuck into the drain port or other location and catches particles. I have heard of an electronic version but never saw one. Are you sure it is not an oil pressure or temp light?

Oil filter light...?

Gonna need more info to go on. I don't have one.  I'm not familiar with it being a Mooney option...

Welcome aboard Regi, see if you can post a photo.

Best regards,

Could this somehow be the ram air filter light coming on because the ram air intake was knocked slightly during the go-around and the non-filetered air was entering the engine close to the ground?  I had an ram air/non filtered light that would light up in my F is the engine was in lower power settings with the gear down.  It would light up to remind me to close the ram air door and allow only filtered air to to the engine - did that once or twice and then never again.

Was that it? Shoot us a picture of the location of the light.
