n5756k
I've developed a nose wheel shimmy on my M20J. Can anyone give me any clues might might be causing this problem? Tom Moquin
amillet
Years ago I had this issue. Lake Aero reversed the collar at the top of the nose gear donuts, increasing the caster angle of the nose gear. Solved the problem

MooneyMitch
Myself, I would first check integrity of your tire, wheel bearings, correct tire inflation. Look for anything obvious such as loose wheel nut, etc. Beyond that, then have aircraft nose lifted and look for excessive play in nose truss assembly. Many possible reasons for shimmy so begin with simple observations.
milotron
I had the nose gear steering horn replaced as it was well out of tolerance for acceptable play. Plane wandered all over the runway without a lot of rudder inputs. It is straight as an arrow now. I used a rebuilt part from Lasar.
n5756k
I have no wandering, but on landing going thru slowdown I have been starting to get a shimmy. As I slow down it goes away. Tom Moquin

MooneyMitch
Yes Tom, you've got an issue. Methodical step by step and you will discover. Soon determination is probably paramount for at least safety sake and possibly preventing a very expensive situation. As stated by others, excellent remedies available for you from LASAR if required.
