I need fuel bladders ??? Help !!!!

Is one tank airworthy enough to ferry the plane to a Fuel tank reseal shop.  There are at least 4 in the USA, probably more.

Can 1 tank be patched to get it to a reseal shop?   Patching is not hard, but is temporary.  I got at least 5 or more years out of my patches.

Could a top coat be applied to stop the powdering affect going on, again to take the plane to a reseal shop.

There must be another way, keep looking.   I am not a fan of bladders, I did have my tanks resealed 18 months ago in Troutdale Oregon and was very happy with the results. Others have taken there planes half way across the country to get them done.

To me it sounds like the OP refuses to accept the advice of anyone other than his mechanic which is sad. I agree with you 100% Scott, he needs to find another mechanic who is willing to work with him to strip and reseal the tanks if that is what it takes, and thus he will save a huge amount of money. Sitting on the airplane for 5 years and not flying it is not the solution here, its only going to require even more time and money if you let it sit that long. To the OP, listen to some of the people on this forum, they know what they are talking about, Bladders ARE NOT the only  solution here.

If you watch the "Boots on the Ground" Video (history of Mooney) they talked to the two ladies that sealed the tanks for many years at Mooney. They seemed very detail oriented. The biggest part will be the prep. I'm sure to strip the old sealer is very tedious, and although it may be Airplane Science, it's not Rocket Science. There are enough threads on here that talk about the products to use and the steps to take. Find an IA that has a reasonable attitude and turn it into a project. Maybe you'll end up being the Mooney Fuel Tank specialist in the NE USA by the time you're finished.

The guy's name is wrench and he's from NH where the plane is . . . something might be coming together on this.

Are you looking to buy into my Mooney ?? I've been tossing around the idea of getting a partner before I decide to just sell her. Would be a shame to sell outright because of how clean and corrosion free that she is. If it wasn't such a big $$ items as the tanks are I would never sell her. Engine runs like a top and she flys hands off with no auto pilot .

Greetings.

As a fellow Mooney project participant, I would very much like to see a happy ending. I empathize with fh603 as I was in a similar situation with my 231 and circumstances necessitated a liquidation which was not my preference. I would like to hear an update regarding the input of Wrench 978, and am wanting to know if I may be able to help this partnership in some way - from a distance. Let's Zoom !

Thanks for the welcome.

I've seen those Bonanza owners up close pacing nervously around the hangar trying to do long distance business deals to pay for their maintenance while the A&P is adding up the cost of their annual !
