Took this picture yesterday flying home after Christmas in Asheville, NC. Flew from KAVL to KLYH and then KLYH to KOQN, pic was taken shortly after departing Lynchburg level at 7,000 ft. 22"MP and 2500 RPM. We maintained over 200kts for a good portion of the second leg.

I was doing 200 mph a couple of years ago in a Piper Cherokee (before I had my mooney)...  I was at 12,500 heading to a thanksgiving celebration...  funny part was the wind was the opposite direction of the trip on the ground... descended kinda early forgetting about that and spent almost as much time on the last 40 miles as the rest of the trip.

I flew to Williamston, NC a few years back and got 212 in straight and level flight.  Flew back the next day and got 109-119 in straight and level.  lol

I've clocked 68 knots groundspeed, crossing the Apps westbound toward Knoxville at 10,000 msl . . . It's not near as much fun! I was indicating ~140 mph, too. (140 + 2%/1000' = 140 + 20% = 140 + 28 = 168 mph or 146 knots; that's 146 - 68 = 78 knot headwind . . .) On that leg of the trip home, my wife looked at me and said, "sure glad we aren't in a Cessna!"

I have had headwinds going the opposite direction that put my GS below 100 also
