Does anyone have any experience using the Avidyne AMX240 audio panel? I'm considering replacing my Garmin GMA 340 and the Avidyne is a drop in replacement for the Garmin. I got a quote from PCA for $1340 for the Avidyne with a trade-in on my Garmin. I like the idea of the Bluetooth features these new audio panels provide. Any reviews of the AMX240 specifically, will be greatly appreciated.

I have one installed, its basically at PS Engineering 8000BT.  They have an excellent reputation in audio panels. If I where to do it again, I think I would just buy the 8000bt, might be cheaper and better serviced.  Mine did have a problem of cutting out every now and again, Avidyne promptly replaced it.  My one beef is when I SqWAK in turbulence, the VFR button is right above the SqWAK and I press it often.

That's the AXP340 Transponder, not the audio panel.

That's strange. The face looks a little different than the AMX240. The Avidyne has separate volume knobs and the PS 8000BT has only one. Now I'm kinda looking at the PS Engineering PMA450A.

I have the 240 installed.  I like it.  Its really very simple and intuitive.  If you're interfacing it to a 440 or 540, make sure your shop installs the wires to monitor the standby frequency.  I love the blue tooth.  My iPad automatically connects to the panel whenever I power up and the alerts from foreflight I hear in my headset.  If you don't already have the 440 or 540, and don't care about the standby audio, I would probably go with the PS Engineering unit.

I do have two 440s. Question: Can you hear the active AND standby frequencies at the same time on the same 440? I curious of each 440 has two radios built in it or it it just scans the other frequency at a high speed to determine if it's busy or not. I love that RX feature on the standby frequency. Gives you an idea if the frequency you're about to switch to is busy.

Yes, When flying into an  airport, I push the freq button on the 540/440, load the ATIS in the standby and the UNICOM in the active.  Push the monitor button when I want to hear both frequencies at the same time.  I don't know how avidyne implements it, but it acts like I have two independent receivers,

That's pretty trick. So with two 440s it'll be like having 4 radios.

I know this thread is old but my KMA 20 just bit the dust.  So are you guys saying the Avidyne audio panel will monitor the standby channel on my IFD440?  My 2nd radio is a Garmin unit but it has a monitor button on it.  So essentially I could be monitoring 4 frequencies?  :0

I wish this was possible with the PMA450B.
