rbharvey Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Now that Mooney is running as a shell, who is going to bring the G1000 Mooney specific software forward. I can see a point in time where Garmin wont support the three year old code we have now (last update 2008), what then.... I'm pretty sure for example the Mooney software wont support Garmin's new active traffic traffic boxes.....someday some module wont support the code anymore/// Quote
richardheitzman Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 From what I remember, Mooney never wrote any code for the G1000 systems. All updates that occured were issues that needed resolution and those issues were customer complaints passed over to Garmin. If you have any issues with your G1000 system, contact your local Garmin rep and let them know. Vendors are supporting thier systems so don't think you are left out in the cold. Quote
rbharvey Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 Thanks, I understand Mooney wasnt authoring code, but they were paying for it to be tailored to their platform(s). They surely arent writing checks anymore so we wont get any more enhancements (like AOPA database, active traffic support from Garmin modules, etc). Maybe Garmin will do something..fingers X Quote
vasco Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 With that thought in mind, does anyone have any idea when WAAS will be available for 2007 O3? Quote

vasco Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Thanks. i will call Mooney. We have the O3 with Stec 55x. Quote
vasco Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Just learned that the early 2007 O3's with Stec will need to be upgraded to the Garmin autopilot in order to get WAAS. Thanks for the heads up. Quote
rbharvey Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 well that will be an expensive WAAS upgrade. Good luck with that Quote
vasco Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Yup, $90K is much too expensive for WAAS. While the Garmin autopilot is better than the Stec 55x, it is not $90k better.... We would be better off moving to an Acclaim with GFC700 and WAAS. Quote

OR75 Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 I suppose the Garmin business model is closer to the Apple or Microsoft model where you have to upgrade on a regular basis. We may all dislike the inertia of the FAA and government, but if it was not for the FAA, we probably would have to "upgrade" to a new plane every couple of years. Quote
