we all need to share the pain ... had to put up with fundraiser trip / TFRs on the left coast almost every 3 months in the past 8 years

Same here, but to a lessor extent. But now that he will be coming down to Mar-a-Lago on a regular basis, and my drome is 15 miles from West Palm Beach, I suspect there will be more interruptions.

Interesting tidbit. A good friend of mine is a controller at Palm Beach and when the president flies in, the Secret Service have fully trained controllers in the radar room and in the tower cab during presidential arrivals and departures to watch over things.

It seem like when Bush was President the TFR was lifted once Air Force 1 was on the ground.  Obama was to special they had to make the TFR in effect while Air Force 1 was at the airport.  Lets hope Trump will have some courtesy to general aviation and revert back.

It appears to be like the Disney TFR. As long as you are talking to approach you can fly thru it. He'll be in Washington hopefully more than NYC.

Becides, The approach controllers there are the best in the country.

It's the Secret Service decision and not anyone else. I think if the presidents actually knew how much they messed with airspace when they travel they would be  just as ashamed of the system as we are.

I just read the TFR.  That's a long time.

The SS calls all the shots, not the passenger. Couldn't resist your last dig into Obama could you? The structure of the TFR system is where the president's present location is, not the aircraft itself. This is evidenced by the vacations that Obama took to Martha's Vineyard. During those weeks, AF1 sat on the ground in Boston, but Boston was not under a TFR, just Martha's Vineyard.

And no, things didn't change for Obama. I remember visits by Bush to South Florida and things were shut down tight for those visits as well.

Got to get in on this one before admin shuts it down,  lets see the TFR well once in a while the fund raising trip to the CA socialist republic in the SF bay area would be a hassle if we were going to travel there but as stated this applies to any president.  And really all you big city popular area guys can suck it up we out here in the rural areas have to pay state and federal taxes that never find there way into benifits that we see.  All the money goes into city improvements etc. in the high population areas.  ie the Oakland Bay Bridge I have yet to drive accross the new east span.  and all those fantastic improvements around Washington DC (shovel ready) stuff that will never benefit me well my taxes paid for some of that too.  I wonder how much money is spent to repair replace damaged property not to mention all the needed police presence during the latest protests and all the many sure to follow.  I dont recall any of the crazy right wingers protesting and destroying property because there guys lost the last 2 elections.

I remember reading last month AOPA article on the candidates thoughts on GA, Hilary had all the right answers no doubt provided by a staffer except she did indicate a support of user fees for the kerosene burners. As for Trump there was no response to the questions.  I know Obama was looking into Palm Springs as a possible place to live part time i'm sure that would be a real challenge to the very busy SoCal airspace as well.  Who Knows Who Cares nothings perfect

Let me add that when I travel to some cities (especially Phoenix) I have to pay huge local fees (aka taxes) on car rentals and hotel bills for ballparks that I will never ever visit.

You should drive across the new span, it's worth every penny of the $6.4 billion it cost and 11 years it took to complete (the entire bridge was originally built in three years using 1930's technology at a total 2016 cost of $1.3 billion). Just don't forget your $4 for the toll!

Trust me I'll be affected the same amount of time by Obama's TFR's in Palm Springs while he playing golf his last few months in office. While this deplorable is driving for 2 1/2 hours instead of flying 32 minutes, I'll have plenty of time to listen to the anger AM radio about the repeal of Obamacare and reversal of all the executive orders.

For the past few years I've had to take a lot of abuse. I can't wait until Drumpf starts implementing his policies, it will be payback time around here. :D

Next up Governor Moonbeams high speed rail this will truly be the ultimate road to nowhere cash cow ever devised. I wonder how all those tax payers in the central valley are going to feel as the train blows right past there cities. And keeping on an aviation theme what idiot is going to spend hundreds of dollars for a 3 hour train ride when they can spend a hundred or so for a 40 minute flight from SFO to the LA basin. Save the planet, Yeah right

Can't really speak about weeks-long vacations, but there have definitely been some days-long stretches out west when the entire LA basin was under a big red TFR.  The PSP visits shut down large chunks of less populated airspace, but I always felt bad thinking there had to be a lot of small airport businesses sitting idle for days at a time.  Imagine being a cafe waitress losing out on almost a week's worth of income, with no warning..
