smlynarczyk
OK --- I have a situation where I am looking at a plane where the early engine log book is missing. The airframe and more recent engine logs are otherwise complete. How concerning is this? I am mostly wondering how this may impact my ability to resell should that ever be the need. I think if they put in a factory remanufactured or new engine, you get a new log book and the old one may stay with the engine. Can you trace back the current logs since the installation of that engine? If so, I wouldn't be too worried about it. smlynarczyk
Thanks Marauder. I don't think this is a big deal for me, but this is my first plane and buying experience so appreciate others' insight on this. Thanks again, Stan. PTK
Has the engine been OH'd since missing engine logs? If it was factory rebuilt it would have new zero time logbook anyway so earlier engine logs are irrelevant. And that would actually increase the value of the aircraft! IOW, do you have the logs for your present engine? But I wouldn't worry too much. Missing engine logs are not as bad as missing airframe logs.
cnoe
What Marauder said. And if your current engine was rebuilt from another crankcase you may get THAT engine's old logbook too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
thinwing
You didn't mention how far back your missing the engine log...over 10 years / 10 annuals not that big a deal since you got the airframe log for total time
