air cooled dad
Looking for any last minute food ideas. We're flying to the north Georgia mountains and beyond to look at the fall colors. Airport restaurants or something walkable. Thanks Jason
mccdeuce
I use this to find places of interest. Think it's somewhat dated but has never let me down. http://www.adventurepilot.com/Default.aspx?tabid=36 Not sure if this would be close to your route but it's one of my favorite fly-in food places. http://pik-n-pig.com/coordinates.html

It may be good food, but St. Simons Island is a good hour's flight from North Georgia . . . to the southeast.

air cooled dad
Thanks everyone. Due to the fires the smoke was thick and obstructed the views. Dodging temporary TFR's as well. Brief clearing in the smokey skies did provide for some nice fall colors. I'll write down your suggestions and put them on my list of $100 hamburger stops. eman1200
Greenville (South Carolina) Downtown Airport ... right on the edge of the Mountains ... Agreed. GMU has the runway cafe, outdoor seating, tasty burgers and an aviation themed playground for kids. Taxi your plane right up to it.
Jeff_S
Andrews-Murphy (KRPH, now Western Carolina Regional) is a nice airport actually in the foothills and there is a BBQ not far away, with a crew car that will get you there. It's a fun jaunt.
