Parker_Woodruff
I saw this post from David LoPresti on LinkedIn if anyone was contemplating a purchase... "I have a rare opportunity for you. We have a cowling mod for a Mooney International Corporation airplane as an overstock. I need to move this item and we can offer a great discount." chrisk
Which model Mooney is this for? I'm under the impression these are for J and prior.
201er
Kind of sounds like the wording for a Nigerian scam. If they ask for western union beware. Just be safe is all. Might actually be a great deal.
fantom
If is sounds too good to be true, especially in this case, it is! Caveat Emptor....
Hector
I think I'll wait for Sabremech's cowl. I've seen it up close and I've met the man and shook his hand.

That's what IM waiting for too!! I've met David as well and seen his cowl in person. I'm waiting for his solution as well. Very well thought out. FlyWalt
I talked with him about a year ago. We talked about their history with Mooneys and had a good conversation. I just wish I could have convinced him to do a cowl mod for the 231.
NotarPilot
Has anyone emailed the company directly to ask if they are, in fact, offering a "great discount?" edit... I emailed them to verify any special pricing on the cowls. Edited August 13, 2016 by NotarPilot
Hank
I could swear I saw something recently (elsewhere) that they have at least one that is marked down 25%. I am waiting for David's to come out.
DaV8or
In all fairness, the Lo Presti cowl and David's cowl are apples and oranges. It really is too bad Lo Presti can't lower the price to make it reasonably priced for a 50 year old airplane.

Bob_Belville
David had his test bed plane @ KOSH and several of us met him in the Vintage parking area to inspect and take pics. It's really impressive. Since I've not spent much on my old E, I hope to be one of the first Es when he's ready.

David I salute you for your efforts to be sure! When finished, you will have an excellent option for those with original pre 201 cowlings. And he will have it once again at the Mooney Summit to entice the vintage guys even further! David, we are proud to have you as part of the Mooney Summit!
NotarPilot
I finally heard back from Lo Presti. They had an order for a J cowl from a customer who skipped out so they want to get rid of that cowl as excess inventory. Normal price is $15,995 but they're only asking $11,495. Still too rich for my blood. I hope it goes to a happy home. Edited August 16, 2016 by NotarPilot Corr cited price from $11,995 to $11,
carusoam
Roy Lo Presti has been known to do some pretty good work. He flew West way too soon. Best regards, -a-
