Marauder Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 All joking aside (okay, maybe a little joking on my dilemma). My seats are in the shop to be re-upholstered. The shop found both seat pans cracked. What are my options? I knew I should never have let Big Bertha in the plane!! Since we are talking seats. If I wanted to change out these belts, anyone have an idea who can sell replacements for them? Sneak peak of the final product. Back seats are finished. Quote
Hank Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 No idea on the seatbelts. Please post what you find, I may do mine next annual. Hey, Spruce is running Osh discounts right now . . . For the seat pans, either weld them up, or take the time to cut out new ones and replace the old ones. Owner-produced parts and all that. Your plane is eligible, it's more than 30 years old. If you don't want to do it yourself, take them to someone else--sheet metal shop, A&P, a friendly machinist. 1 Quote
Danb Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 Chris I'm sure your not wondering why the seats cried themselves to death. Btw the seats look sweet I'll get over one day to smell the newness, very nice. Quote
1524J Posted July 16, 2016 Report Posted July 16, 2016 If your going to replace the seat belts, I'd look into inertia reel. It's one of the things I'd like to improve but way down the financial priority list along with 201 yokes. I need avionics. http://alphaaviation.com/Mooney.html Looks like the new interior is going to be sharp!! 2 Quote
170driver Posted July 16, 2016 Report Posted July 16, 2016 The pax seat back in my '68 C was badly cracked in 5 or 6 places. Stop drilled all cracks where needed and riveted 0.020 2024 patches over each crack. Seat back is solid now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
