eman1200 Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 is the prop missing in those last 3 photos? Quote

You didn't think Alan was going to sell you an E for that kind of money with a prop on it, did you? If you look closer, there might even be a stack of lead in place of the engine! I'm sure Alan has an explanation. 1 Quote

steingar Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 I thought this Mooney was already someone's project. I recall it on this site right here. Quote
Alan Fox Posted June 14, 2016 Author Report Posted June 14, 2016 Its my project , The minor damage was from a rudder jackshaft failure and a trip into a snowbank , The cowl was replaced , the prop was replaced , (hartzell top prop ) the rudder jackshaft was replaced , and the only real damage was a wingtip end rib had to be replaced , Everything else was bolt on , also the AD for sudden stoppage was done to the engine.... And Chris , I snuck into your hangar , and replaced your engine with a sack of lead......And you cant have my ailerons !!! 1 Quote

In that picture it has a bent prop, so AD 2004-10-14 and Lycoming SB475C will need to be verified. Definition of Propeller Strike (i) For the purposes of this AD, a propeller strike is defined as follows: (1) Any incident, whether or not the engine is operating, that requires repair to the propeller other than minor dressing of the blades. (2) Any incident during engine operation in which the propeller impacts a solid object that causes a drop in revolutions per minute (RPM) and also requires structural repair of the propeller (incidents requiring only paint touch-up are not included). This is not restricted to propeller strikes against the ground. (3) A sudden RPM drop while impacting water, tall grass, or similar yielding medium, where propeller damage is not normally incurred. (j) The preceding definitions include situations where an aircraft is stationary and the landing gear collapses causing one or more blades to be substantially bent, or where a hanger door (or other object) strikes the propeller blade. These cases should be handled as sudden stoppages because of potentially severe side loading on the crankshaft flange, front bearing, and seal Clarence Quote
Alan Fox Posted June 15, 2016 Author Report Posted June 15, 2016 AD 2004-10-14 has been complied with , as well as SB475c Quote
Seth Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 Alan- Until it's sold we are happy you are flying a Mooney again!! Come show off the E at the next breakfast flight I put together - working on one for Sunday, June 26th. I recognize some of the hangers from the pictures! Are you planning any avionics upgrades as part of the sale? Maybe that could be incorporated with an upgrade price of course to entice a turnkey buyer. -Seth Quote
Seth Posted June 20, 2016 Report Posted June 20, 2016 From when I viewed this aircraft in person it also had the plane power alternator conversion, correct? I could be wrong. -Seth Quote
