Marauder Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 I'm glad to see the Boogie Man has a heart from time to time. Unfortunately those ailerons look straight and I want them. 1 Quote
mooniac15u Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 It still has the shimmy damper on the nose gear. You don't see many of those anymore. Quote
KSMooniac Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 my Dad used to co-own N5822Q in the 80's. It was a '65 C with the same paint scheme, but much uglier colors. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 If you can.... Post a picture of log#1, page #1.... AW signature by Bill Wheat. 1965 was my favorite year... N59XXs were built late in the year. That sure is a funny prop shadow..? Best regards, -a- 3 Quote
steingar Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 The OP really hasn't got much of a project. Already a nice looking bird. Quote

Barnstormers has an overhauled one for sale, but it's a little pricy for us cheap bastards. Glade to here another aircraft being resurrected instead of scraped. Quote
MHemperly Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 This is awesome! I wish I could restore everyone I see! I'll post a pic of mine with the log book as well just for fun Mike Quote
MHemperly Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) It's a 66' but logs are 65' Edited May 26, 2016 by Mhemperly Quote
Bart Chilcott Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 Here's my 65 E. Check out the production flight test date Skmoore63. Seven days prior to yours and by the same test pilot. 2 Quote
Seth Posted May 26, 2016 Report Posted May 26, 2016 Alan- Have you decided to keep the Yellow or will you paint that portion a different color? -Seth Quote

I assume this is the same plane: If it hit a snowbank hard enough to bend internal steering components I could imagine it had a prop strike as well. 1 Quote
cctsurf Posted May 27, 2016 Report Posted May 27, 2016 Sorry. Apparently, I was too dry pan, I was joking... Yes, as far as I can understand it had a prop strike. The shadow just looked cool. Quote
deanders Posted May 27, 2016 Report Posted May 27, 2016 I'm just finishing my 65 M20E after a years work. She sat for 4 years before it was given to me. The project has been long and expensive, much more than I expected. I should have the interior finished in a couple of weeks. Considering I'm an A&P and I have done all the work, I'll have about 20 grand more invested than I can sale it for. The last item left is to remove the gear so I can replace the briskets and bushings. N6042Q Rebuild Sheet June 15 2015 thru June 15 2016.docx 7 Quote

If I ever have to repaint my blue and white C, I will use pix of yours as the template. Almost wish current paint wasn't in such good shape Quote
Alan Fox Posted May 29, 2016 Author Report Posted May 29, 2016 Ok , I think from careful examination of the parts , the steering/rudder jackshaft failed , and this caused the accident , It should be of concern to owners of these legacy aircraft.....It is enough of a problem , that Lasar makes a beefed up version of the part...... The replacement I used was the beefed up version.... 1 Quote
Alan Fox Posted May 29, 2016 Author Report Posted May 29, 2016 Also the Crank dialed a big fat ZERO , life is good..... 3 Quote

I was looking at my parts manual, I'm not certain I know which part you're talking about. Can you tell me which part I should be looking at on the attached diagram? Thanks! Quote
