TWinter Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Just watched the second episode of this new series. Good stuff. In my past career I was on our "Accident Investigation Team". While this show is obviously condensed for TV it is pretty spot on for the most part as far as the reconstruction of the accident data. Gives some good sidebar facts as far as how many acres of Alaska is only accessible by air and their dependency of aircraft. They stated the aircraft accident rate, I couldn't believe the accident rate was so high. Just lots of good info and factual. I've never been to Alaska, but they sounded pretty accurate in comparison to how a motor vehicle accident reconstruction is done. No crazy drama, just a good factual program. Worth checking out. -Tom 2 Quote

mooneyflyfast Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Saw my first one last night. A Cessna 180 where no cause could be found.. The NTSB investigator seemed to think it was engine failure due to fuel starvation from "cavitation". The aircraft had been flying at low altitude and abruptly pitched up 45 degrees. The cavitation would have occurred from the negative Gs when the nose was leveled according to him. He never considered a low altitude stall. Has anyone ever heard of this cavitation senario? Quote
