With that being said, I have seen several props all Hartzell's have issues with vibration after being serviced. When you put more grease in one side of the prop than the other! It's very common Maybe that's what happened to my prop when I overhauled it. I was amazed how far out of balance it was 70 hours after overhaul and 10 months later. So smooth now. -Seth 1 Quote

Once it read .04, he stopped.. he didn't try to improve it further because he said it is diminishing return on time... He said he could probably get it down to .03 or .02, but it would take another hour of hassle... we had already run it 4 or 5 times and been fiddling for about 2 hours.. next time i'll insist to keep going.. If you went from 0.07 to 0.04 in two hours and it took 4-5 ground runs, I would seriously consider another shop. The guys at Specialized went from .6 to 0.02 in three runs and just over an hour. User skill is different I guess. Quote

I have enough toys to fly that the Mooney will probably take 4+ years before its ready for the next. So my break even point is probably 20 years out. -Robert Robert, you might not be doing that new engine or prop any favors only running it 25 hrs a year while you wear out CAP owned Cessna's. 1 Quote

It's not as bad as it sounds. I didn't take any trips last year in the Mooney so that's probably 1 hour every 2 weeks. -Robert Quote
amillet Posted April 4, 2016 Report Posted April 4, 2016 I had new prop/engine dynamically balanced last week. Went from 2.2 to 1.2 IPS. Noticeaby smoother at cruise RPM. Quote
