Mooney down Los Angeles

Wonder if it was a gear up landing similar to the New Acclaim street landing at Sun And Fun?

Gear up seems to be the modis operandi when landing on residential city streets.

No roll may be the way to go.

Whew, now only insurance claims and a laundry bill to deal with.

Glad no injuries here.

He is lucky to be alive due to where he crashed.....luckily police were on the scene quickly......Is there a mod to install guns either on a pod or embedded in the wing?

Glad pilot and everyone on ground is ok- will be curious to hear details.  My home field is also in a congested urban area- the prospect of engine failure is horrifying to me.  Gear up may help extend the glide and find safe-ish spot to squeeze it in and get stopped?  Interesting point for discussion in this type of unforgiving environment.

The photo in this news story seems to show he landed with the gear down.

Given where he lost the engine (assuming that's what happened), hard to imagine a better outcome than this: pilot was able to refuse medical care, and no one on the ground hurt.  Just some bent metal.  Wow.

C'mon, it's not like he landed in Gramercy Park or Compton. He came down in the San Fernando Valley; at that hour he had a better chance of landing on a porn set than witnessing a violent crime.

Ross I think it's a little too soon to propose a screenplay based on this concept .

FIrst off, I'm very happy that he's ok and no one was injured on the ground.  It could have been catastrophic.

Now the crew chief in me takes me directly to the gutter...

A forced landing in the San Fernando Valley... The N-number ends in 'KY' ... there's got to be a message there somewhere.

That is a brilliant idea!

OK folks,  We need a title.  I look forward to your collective creativity!

"Over Gross" starring Marauder and the Moonphomaniacs?
