kris_adams Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) Hi Everyone, I am looking to pickup a QT Halo headset for a passenger of mine who says my DC ANR's "clamp" too hard on her head. They appear to be out of stock due to high demand. I sent an email to them yesterday asking about timeframes but have not heard back. Any chance any of you know another a shop that has some in stock (or perhaps you have one to sell)? Side note: a few of you know about my BS medical issue. If got it resolved last week so I'm back in the cockpit after almost a year off. Glad to be back in the air. Thanks! Kris Edited September 10, 2015 by Kris_Adams 3 Quote
kris_adams Posted September 10, 2015 Author Report Posted September 10, 2015 I heard from Phil that they are only about 1 week out. I'm on the wait list and looking forward to them getting in stock. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 I'm glad to hear that Phil is having trouble keeping up with demand. They are well worth the wait however. Quote
Hank Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em!! So will your favorite pax. I use the silicone plugs, don't like how the foamies fit, but wear them at work because I have to. They are cheap, which makes it easy to loan to passengers. Quote
KSMooniac Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 I too prefer the silicone plugs...far more comfy and still very good blocking the noise. Your lady friend will much prefer them to a conventional headset that is likely to big and clamps too hard, and messes up hair. I got my wife a pair and she loves them. I tried them on a flight and then I bought another. Tip: I bought black ones, but wish I would have gotten the yellow as they easily disappear if they fall between the seats or on the floor. Yellow is easier to see of course. Quote

Kris I have one from couple of years ago that I used for 6 months and don't use anymore, let me know if you want to buy it from me for a discounted price... Quote
gsxrpilot Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 I got a set of the Halo's a year ago at OSH. That meant the wife got the Zulu2's. This spring she asked to try my Halo's. So of course she never gave them back and I was stuck with the Zulu2's until OSH this year where I got another set of my own. I'm not sure our Dog in the back seat really appreciates the quality of the headset she's wearing now. 6 Quote
kris_adams Posted September 12, 2015 Author Report Posted September 12, 2015 thanks for the tips on the silicon plugs. It looks like they come with 10 foam and 2 rubber "tips". Is that the silicon plugs you are referencing? The rubber tips are the only other options I see on their website. Looking forward to picking up a pair. I think I will go with the yellow as KSMooniac suggests. Quote
carusoam Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 (edited) Silicone rubber makes good earpieces for the Halos... silicon, not so much. buy a whole bunch, toss them out often. It's an aural hygiene thing.... learning the proper method to insert them, works best. Anyone that has been trained to use ear plugs will know. you know you have it right, when you try to leave the aircraft and your are still tethered to the instrument panel by your Halos. you'll probably be laughing out loud when you do it to yourself. Its best to be quiet if it happens to your copilot.... my experiences shared, -a- Edited September 12, 2015 by carusoam 1 Quote

I've been using my Halos since 2009, and this still happens to me sometimes! I gave away my foam inserts. Silicone ones are $2-3 per pair, and comes with 2 pair, I think. My originals were white, replacement ones were gray. Don't think color makes a difference. And the Halos let you wear a real hat, not just a ball cap with the top button cut off. Here's me taking a friend to ride, wearing my winter hat while still living in West-by-Gawd, Virginny. 1 Quote
garytex Posted September 12, 2015 Report Posted September 12, 2015 I had reason to wear a helmet on a repositioning flight, used my son's skateboard helmet. Halo's worked great under the helmet. That was the first time I ever flew wearing a Death's Head decal. :-) Quote
