As I have been looking for a plane to buy. Most planes I have seen the panels are far from ADS-b compliant. Let alone even a WAAS GPS receiver. So instead of blowing up the panel when I do find a plane. If the transponder is compatible I think I will just install the GDL84 and run the ADS-b IN on my Ipad with foreflight through the Flight Stream.

I was just wondering if anyone has installed the 84 and what their thoughts were on it. Or what anyone has heard good or bad?

I've got a quote from Pacific Coast Avionics for just over $8,000 installed including the unit with a flight stream 210.

Any thoughts would be helpful

Best part, this box works totally standalone including GPS position source... Even wifi out... So far I've been impressed...

Will it allow foreflight to connect to its wifi? The biggest draw for me on the GDL is being able to use weather and traffic on a big screen like the iPad.

Foreflight is locked up with stratus. We hope it will in the future but that's on Foreflight. It works now with wingX and sky radar (free)... But it can also display nexrad right on your panel

I've been debating to go with wingX over foreflight. But when they linked up with garmin I figured go with that giant. But I'm going to do some more reading on L3. It looks pretty nice. What was the total cost of instal less then $8,000?

No, I'm in my thirty and just got my first iPad. Kind of pathetic. I'm still a charts man.
