Cable for filter by-pass, M20E

Recommended Posts

So, pull the center out of the cable. Don't lose the ball. Put the wire in a vice, tighten a crescent wrench around the wire and tap it with a hammer to knock the knob off of the wire. Use a small awl or a drill bit to open up the crimp where the wire went into the knob shaft. Find a new piece of piano wire (McMaster Carr) put it in the knob and re-crimp. Shove the new wire back into the housing. Make sure to put the ball back in.

This may be a perfect job for the hangar fairies.

You can also look at aircraft spruce and find the locking cable just like the one in there but it will not have the micro-switch to warn you if the bypass is open and the gear is down.  Just slip the cable insert out of the new sheath and place it in the existing sheath in the plane cut to fit and reattach.  The ramp fairies were helpful with that one.

Yes keep track of the little ball.
